^Thanks mike,
Now I've just gotta figure out why it's got such crappy idle surge. I checked out This Page (http://dmtalon.v8eaters.com/ISC.html) on VFAQ and tested my ISC and got 38ohms for each pair of pins, so I think it might be something else. Basically what happens is when I stop at a light or something, the rpms will rev up and down like 300rpms consistently. Any advice?

have you done a boost leak test? i know i know everyone tells you that and im sure you have but its a start, also have you checked the biss o-ring if its the origanal it might fall apart when you touch it like mine did lol.(if you figure out what it is let me know mines surges sometimes too)

haha ya know, I haven't done a boost leak test! I've been without a turboed car for so long, I totally forgot about that joy. Could you be more specific about the biss o-ring, not sure what you're talking about.

On the BISS screw on the throttle body there is a rubber o-ring that seals it.

^thanks! I'll look into that and go over a few things this weekend. I've got the FE exam this Saturday, so unfortunately I won't get to play much till after that :(

I tried to do a boost leak test tonight and failed miserably. I forgot that my boost leak tester is a 2''-3'' coupler that I used on my old 50trim. I tried to rig something up so I could at least shoot a little air through the system and I found zero leaks which can't be right considering it's still all stock piping. So I guess I'll have to get a different coupler and try it again some other time.
On another note, I found out that my "16g" is really a 14b :( The kid who sold me the car obviously didn't know what he was talking about, and I was dumb for not looking into it closer. eh oh well, not the end of the world. The good news is that the 14b has zero shaft play and it's in great shape at least.
Sometime when I've got more time, I'll machine a fiav blockoff plate and see if that calms down the idle a little bit. The idle surge kinda comes and goes, so idk what to really think about that.

I looked into this a little more and I don't really think this my problem. The car is pretty stock and it doesn't look like my BISS has ever been adjusted previously.
My final concern about this car is that it'll grind if I try to shift into 3rd gear whenever the rpms are over 2500. The kid who sold the car said there were a couple bearings or something that needed to be replaced on the front of the transmission. He explained it to me a little and it sounded like no big deal, well I'm starting to think it's a bigger deal than he made it sound. Any thoughts/comments about what could be causing the slight grind? Maybe I'll upload a video sometime.

Like I mentioned before it could be worn out synchros. Have you tried changing the fluid? Maybe it's old.
