I've finally filled up my laptop and I want to store some stuff on an external hd. I've narrowed my search down between two and I'm not sure which one I should get. Any comments/opinions would be great!

2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136641&Tpk=WDBABM0010BSL
-#1 is offered with a 2 year warranty whereas #2 is offered with a 3 year warranty, and to me that says something about the confidence WD has in their product.
-#1 comes with USB 3.0 whereas #2 only comes with USB 2.0. I know 3.0 is faster, but idk if my laptop can do 3.0 or if that matters or w/e
-#2 is silver aka more baller, but also $7 more haha

I don't know if you searched, but i asked this a few months ago and discovered a HD dock, it is a dock that you can throw internal HD into and use, so you can multiple externals.

^huh...No I did not search...you caught me
I'd really like a portable HD considering I've got a laptop, so idk if that dock is what I'm really looking for.

Option: 1
If it doesn't break within 2 years as an electronic you are usually good to go. So 2 or 3 year warranty wouldn't even be a factor to me.
However, if this was a car part, that would be a different story.

I bought my brother an external 1.5 tb hardrive for $90.00 at Walmart. It was the same brand as the one you bought.

I mentioned above that I wanted a portable hard drive aka one that doesn't need to be plugged into the wall. I assume the one you bought was not portable.
ps for $100 you can get a 2tb stationary hd on newegg.com ;)

I used to have one of those, the best thing about that dock is putting in a hard drive and then letting it reach full spin, and pull it out. Freaked me out at first. The rotational force of the plates almost spun it out of my hand. hahhah
