Mind. splosion. I love it. someone do this with my evo8 chassis :)
Well here it is, nearly completed. This is my brother Dan's project, he's been working on it for about a year. Him and his brother-in-law, Randy. Randy is an expert paint and body man, as you will soon see.
Dan bought a wrecked/rolled over EVO8 and him and Randy cut the core support out of it, then proceeded to cut the car over the front shock towers, leaving the firewall, down the firewall, across the tops of the rockers, up and over the rear shock towers and flat across the top of the trunk floor. So what was left was a just the "frame" of the EVO sitting on the full suspension.
They then started the hard work of putting a fiberglass '41 Willy's body on it. The front end was stretched and made wider. The body was bolted and glassed to the factory EVO chassis. The car was then sent out for a roll cage to be installed to tie it all together. I'd say that the finished product is as rigid as the stock EVO chassis was.
The car is using a 2 liter in it and a stock EVO9 turbo. A custom FMIC/radiator that Dan also built. I personally had no part in the car, Dan and Randy have done it all. Single fuel pump in the stock EVO tank, 1000 cc injectors, AEM EMS S1, custom wiring harness etc. EVO seats are inside too. Bushwacker Stage 1 trans and an Exedy Twin clutch.
Here's a camera phone photo of the car, it's '03 EVO Rally Red. Right now it's sitting on stock EVO wheels but will be getting Torque Thrusts put on. The car goes in for state inspection tomorrow, then comes to the shop for i/c pipes and dyno tuning, then it's done.
You have to see it in person, it's bad ass. It's going to be even more bad ass when this OLD looking car can kick ass in the corners, braking and everywhere else!

Intercooler pipes are all done, air inlet is finished, wiring got finished up and so did the exhaust. It was ready for the dyno today. Got in here early and Dan strapped it down.
Here's the details on the engine:
BR Stage 3 shortblock, 2 liter. Dan built this one himself.
BR Stage 3 head
Old school, rumpity-idle Revolver cams, just right for a street rod!
BR ported stock exhaust manifold
BR SS 02 housing
STOCK EVO9 turbo
BR ported JDM stock intake
BR 65 mm throttle body
BR 3" turbo back (normal EVO8 system) with small Magnaflow in the middle and SD in the rear.
Exedy Twin HD cerametalic clutch
Garrett I/C core, a little small compared to the Race FMIC which is what Dan would have liked to run but it's all that would fit.
Custom built Fluidyne radiator
I tuned the car on just 93 octane, ran it to a peak of 30 psi. The mix of the Revolver cam and the small intercooler kept it from making 400/400 which is what Dan wanted, like his beater EVO. The AIT's climbed in 4th and the Revolvers are great at making torque but not so great on the top end.
Without further babble, the car made 354 whp and 376 ft lbs of torque.
Here's the dyno sheet:
