Just wondering if anybody knows anything about it. I think he's asking a little much for it, but then again I haven't been looing for dsms lately and don't really know what they are going for.

I think that the car looks pretty solid. I've never liked the 3g wheels though imho. The strut tower rust doesn't look too bad and prob. wouldn't take too much to fix.
I bet he would let it go for more around 4800 or 5000 with that kind of starting price. Also, yes 5500 seems a little steep for that car. Maybe if it had like 110k-125k then yes.

^ I got him down to $4500 for the car, but idk if I'd want a dsm with that high of mileage. Making power on a motor that old just seems a little risky to me. This kid said he's owned the car for 3 months and wants to get rid of it because he's only got like 2 points left before he loses his license. Kinda a lame excuse if you ask me, but oh well.

If he's that close to losing his license then he's probably been RAPING on it everywhere he goes. I wouldn't touch that car unless I had the cash to throw a 6 bolt in there. It's prolly in questionable shape. (regarding the engine)

lets be real here though... what dsm hasnt been raped on in its life.
I can tell you that more than likely every car in the for sale section of this site has been raped and beaten on at some point.
People who say, "the car has been babied all its life" are lying. The best is when you hear that, but then look at the rock falls or some other posts about going to the track and making some runs... drag racing is by definition, beating on your car. (unless your granny shiftin and not double clutchin like ya should)

looks clean. from pictures, you'd never know how good it runs till you see it for yourself. i dont like it when people say 'never raced' or 'never beaten on'. yeah, right. if it was owned by an old lady all of it's life then i can believe it...probably. let us know how it goes.

Another thing I would do is have him take a picture of the hatch while its open and see if its rusting like they all do.

Yea, true that all have been beaten on. I guess what I mean is that its got 150+k miles and is being beaten on by a kid that can't just drive the speed limit for once.

Not gunna buy this one mainly because I don't care to spend $4500 on a car that I'd swap motors in anyways. I was sorta hoping maybe somebody knew some history on the car, but no biggy.

Do a compression test, the motor in my 2g had over 120k miles and still 180 compression in all cylinders and didn't burn a drop of oil.
