Technically, North and South Korea are still at war. Doesn't make it right, just saying.

But I think this will push it over the edge and lead to something bigger.

There have been many skirmishes like this in the past. I don't believe either side really wants start major battles again. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I wouldn't call this a skirmish, it wasn't exactly small arms far across the DMZ. This is by far the most extreme thing to occur since the end of fighting in 1953.

I hope and pray that this will settle down between them. If this gets some more steam under it, prepare for the US, Russia, China and Japan to get involved.

Yes, they are at war because of the scenery.

"The skirmish began when North Korea warned the South to halt military drills near their sea border, according to South Korean officials. When Seoul refused and began firing artillery into disputed waters — but away from the North Korean shore — the North retaliated by shelling the small island of Yeonpyeong, which houses South Korean military installations and a small civilian population."
Guess I'm not the only one to characterize it as a skirmish.
I'll take your word for it that this is the worst thing to occur since 1953. I don't know and don't care. In the grand scheme of things, this is like lobbing spitballs at each other. Start worrying when the nukes fly.
