Hmm, I have thought about this a lot.

I had a very nice 1G. It was not a pile, got lots of compliments, made decent power (556awhp @ map per the last dyno day, woo stock 2.0L!!), and got a lot of intimidated stares from street racer boys.

I loved when owners of true sports cars would accept a challenge from me, and while cruising around rarely did anyone dare challenge me! I have had the unforgettable experiences of embarrissing a Ferrari, Porsches, Vipers; True high end cars, that were better in almost every way than my car (except in an acceleration contest).
I had fallen in love with 1Gs since the day I bought a clean black AWD as my first car. I learned a lot over the years, because I always had to fix these things. I cannot think of another 4 cylinder platform that can be modified with the same results, nor get the same kind of respect that a 4G63 brings to the table. Why did I sell mine? Why did I get out of the game? Over four years, I had spent about $20,000 on the car, gone $5000 of which was transmissions alone. I have to admit, I really hated the auto seatbelts, and those were the clue that gave away how dated that car was. I decided my priorities needed to change, there will always be a faster car somewhere, and I need to stop getting speeding tickets. I accomplished everything I ever wanted with a DSM:

Make over 400awhp at DB
Race, and beat, a VERY intimidating V8 Car (another great story)
Run a decent time at the track
Have as much fun as possible

I did all those things. It's time to move on.

Wow I finally put two and two together... you rallyX the Mk1 and drive sweep in the CR-V?

I used to do Advance 1, 00 and bannering with the Talon. Then I bought the CR-V and sold the talon. Then I started doing medical sweep shortly after getting the CR-V. So I went from the front of the pack to the back of the pack. The medic that rode with me at Ojibwe thanked me for not having a civic ice racing car with a full rollcage and loud exhaust. much more comfortable in the CR-V. And probably more fun since it never broke down on stage.

I've been rallyxing the MR2 for the past few seasons now. If you ever get a chance to try it in a mid-engine/rwd car, DO IT!! It's a blast!

Hopefully we'll be able to make it out to see you running the Tib either at MNRally Weekend or the Nemadji's or Ojibwe. Not sure if I'll be able to make up to many of them this year with the baby.

I started to part out my Talon 3 years ago after I bought a 2000 540i and a 1987 325iS. There wasn't much interest in the car parts so it sat there in my driveway. A few months ago I decided to rebuild the engine and rebuy the parts I sold. 4 days ago I started it up for the first time in 3 years and I'm very excited about it.
So..... I didn't sell it or get out of the game but money was the only reason I wanted to part it out. Decided to keep it because it was the first car I ever bought and it's been with me since I've been 16. only 117K miles and it was owned by an old lady before I bought it.

Displacement and comfort. I get way more torque, plus I can actually talk on the phone in the car with ease. The comfort isn't a big deal to me, I didn't really mind the 2g on coilovers in winter that much, but every passenger and my girlfriend complained about it, a bit of a hint that it sucked on MN roads.

As it was stated before, I got sick of popping the hood on the car (the next owner who has it said that the cable broke!!!). There was always something to fix. Always something to chase down. I didn't have the space for it. Never grabbed the attention I wanted. It took up ALOT of time. Time wasted.... It is one thing to modify a car and add stuff to it to improve it. It is just irritating to have to keep fixing stuff.

I thank the DSM because it really made me a great mechanic and taught me Engine basics and how to setup a Standalone on a car (which could be transfered to any car really). Engine building

If I had to go 4g63 again it would probably be a Galant VR-4 because of the rarity. Then see how comfortable I could make it. Maybe I am getting old...
