Picked up an auto '98 Eclipse this afternoon.

It apparently has a spun rod bearing. Upon tearing it down in the next couple days I hope to decide what exactly I want to do with this car. It's not perfect but is a lot cleaner than my '95 and the plan is to make it a solid daily driver.

So when you say "daily driver" do you mean 10 seconds daily driver? lol nice pick up man. My friend was flippin through craigslist today and he saw this listed and it sparked his interest. I laughed. Anyways, good luck brad

Thanks Brian, you'll have to hit me up if you ever come back down to the cities.

I'd just like to convert this car to a manual, keep the turbo setup, put some bigger injectors in it, run some corn and bring it to Shane and have him work his magic on it and have a fun daily driver. No need to be the fastest or anything like that.

Brad, you should buy my '95 and take all the parts from it, stuff it in this and ditch my shell. Just saying...

If you need a pedal assembly and what not, let me know also. My car is getting parted out.

I have my crappy '95 that i'll pull most parts off that I need to make it manual. I also have either this motor or a stock 6 bolt sitting in my shed that I can rebuilt. Thanks for the offer though!

I still have my '95 so I have a pedal assembly and the cables and most of everything else. I might need a couple things though. I'll shoot you a pm when I have a little more money

Thanks dude! Yea, as soon as I get this running and feel its reliable I'm going to try and seel the awdee as quickly as possible.

Finished pulling the motor yesterday afternoon, despite having the pull the whole passenger side hub because of a stuck axle. Hopeful to have some not so carnage pictures later today.

2 flex plate bolts fell out when I took off the converter and I was hoping that this was the "rod knock." I don't think thats the case any more.

grab a set of oem bearings and plastigauge it after you take some emery cloth to the crank to remove any garbage, if theres no gouges in the crank that catch your fingernail and the plastigauge shows its within spec, id see no problem in re using any of that, i ran mine very little just to move it up to the garage after i lost oil pressure and the bearing was destroyed, seems like he may have caught it early enough.

How do the mains look?

I think I'll try that and see if everything is in spec. I just remember reading that replacing a messed up bearing without really know why it went bad isn't the best idea. This is also going to be my daily driver once its up and running so I'd hate to have another rod bearing go out in a month or two and not have a way to get to work.

I didn't look at the mains. You guys think I should?
