How much of a reliabilty difference is there between the 360 deg and 270 deg bearings on the garrett T3/T4s? How about the Garrett turbine housing vs the PTE performance wise?

i just associate BAD with 270s. doesn't cheapturbo.com use those?

I wouldn't run a 270 on car that constantly runs high boost like a DSM, they don't seem to hold up too long. Probably fine on Honda's running 7psi.

The Garrett 4-bolt outlet exhaust housing and the PTEs are good. The old Garrett/Turbonectics 5-bolt outlet exhaust housings are not as efficient.

stay away from 270's. Yes cheapturbo.com uses 270 bearings. Just as ecoli stated. 270's work fine at low boost levels like Honda's use, but will more than likely fail when used under higher boost conditions like on DSM's.

You can upgrade to a 360 thrust bearing at CheapTurbo for $75, which I (and everyone else) highly recommend.

well my 60trim has produced 25psi for 6000miles and 35psi for a few passes at the track and 10pulls on the dyno. But I suppose this turbo would not last 100k like it should. Way to go cheapturbo.com.

Thanks for the answers, two other questions though.
Whats this "stage 3-5" turbine crap?
They only come with 2 different housings right(on the full Garret setup), the 4 bolt and the 5 bolt ford/chrysler one?

The stage 3-5 has to do with the aggressiveness of the turbine wheel (if I'm not mistaken)
Stage 5 would then be most effective in high RPM/high horsepower applications. Would be a little more laggy than the stage 3, however.

Stage 3 and Stage 5 are names that Turbonetics uses for turbine wheels. The Stage 5 is a bigger wheel than the Stage 3. The Stage 3 is the same size as a T31 76-trim turbine wheel, the stage 5 is the same size as a T350 76-trim turbine wheel. The 10-bladed exhaust wheels are better than the old 11-bladed turbine wheels. I don't know if they even sell the 11-bladed ones nowdays. The exducer/inducer sizes on the stage 3 are 2.228"/2.559". The stage 5 is 2.437"/2.795". More possible power, more lag. We have done .48 A/R with the stage 5 on 1.8-2.0 motors. Similar power and slightly quicker spool than doing stage 3 with a .63 A/R. Stage 3 and .63 A/R is the most popular combo on DSMs and Hondas. If your going to run a larger than normal compressor wheel or want more lag or your trying to get every last bit of power out of a smaller comp wheel then you might want to try the stage 5 in a .63 A/R exhaust housing.
