What has worked best for you? We are talking specifically about 1g, but let me know what worked well on your 2g as well.

This doesn't look too promising, where else should I look?

The B&M I had in my 2g was awesome. Could adjust to 50% or 35% throw of stock. Those actually change the pivot location so it's more than those that look like they'd perform like cutting the stocker down. The pivot location sat on top of the stock location, so you lose length on top and gain length on bottom, and at the bottom it had two locations to hook up the shifter cables. Great design and performed well.

Yep I had the same thing in my 2g and loved it. With a set of shifter bushings from RRE it felt really good!

There really aren't any good shifter options for the 1G other than underhood bushings and the Symbrowski kit (base bushings + pivot tube). For $30 though buy it and do a write-up...it may just be the new hot thing like the eBay Evo 8/9 shifters I discovered!

Thanks for the replies. I found one at JNZ tuning, for 150$. Seems like a decent quality part, most likely, I am going to try it out.

I think buying a 30$ ebay one is going to give me more problems in the long run. (think missing gear and over-revving my shit)

The only problem with that Ebay shifter is that it does not have a stopper, which can cause major problems with 1g's, from bound up linkage, to broken shift forks from the shifter moving too far. (over extends the forks) I was just researching 1g shifter stuff about a month ago, and found all of this out. I had a shifter like that, and I am pretty certain that is what took out my 1st transmission now that I look back at it.

A better option would be to do the "shifter end stop mod" found on vFaq. I tried out a car at the cookout with this mod, and it was by far the best 1g shifter I had ever felt, since they are known to suck.

Check it out here: http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html

Also, when doing this mod, make sure to take out the rubber bumper on the stopper (triangle piece), then re-adjust the screws, it gives it a much more positive feel.

Since vFaq won't send you directly to a page:

is there any way to put a stopper on the ebay unit

You could weld one on there, but it really never shortens the throw to begin with, just shortens the top of the lever itself. To shorten the "throw" it would have to be shorter on top, and longer on bottom.
