hey all. I have a 91 talon TSi awd auto. I bought the car in rough shape and have been trying to get it close to drivable. In 1st, 2nd, or Drive the car will move very sluggish. With my foot to the floor i get about 2500 rpms.It has no problems getting to that point, it just wont' go anymore. The car has a supposed rebuilt transmission in it. I have full revs in neutral , dont know if that is important or not. Any idea on where to start? Also pulling codes from TCU and ECU show only constant short beeps....a normal condition correct?

Thanks in advance,

James

transmission is fine up too 30mph..can't go anyfaster..almost like it is hitting a wall. Transmission fluid level is dead on and it's a nice red with no burnt smell.

one recommendation is a boost leak past the MAF? Could the ecu be freaking out..i'm gonna do a boost test regardless but just making sure it's possible.

Sounds like the MAF is not working or not plugged in...

i'll definitely double check but wouldn't that throw a code? or and i expecting too much from a 91 ECU?

It should if its not plugged in. I've seen catalytic's clog up so bad that cars wont rev up, but thats pretty unlikely, your a/f is usually way off which is why it won't rev up, so check the fuel pressure regulator maybe?

alright i checked the maf..it was plugged in..went over all the charge piping and it's all nice and tight now.Didn't get a chance to drive it yesterday(gf's birthday) so I'll check the FPR and see what it does today.

thanks

when i had a similar problem in my 92, it was a bad maf. maybe try borrowing a maf and throwing it in.

it would happen as soon as the car started making boost at about 2500 rpm. i could get it above 2500 with very very light throttle so the car was always pulling vacuum. but anything past that would be instant wall.
