So tonight I put in a 91-94 complete shifter in my 90 laser. I adjusted the cables to where I thought they were good and than took my car for a spin. First off reverse doesn't fully engage. Had to hold it back to keep it in gear. Than while driving in 2nd or 4th it doesn't feel smooth. Still feels like it's not fully engaging. There is almost no more adjustment on the cable that connects to upright shifter arm. Am I missing something? I tried searching to see if there was something else I needed but couldn't get a clear answe. Just trying to figure it out before I take the car on a road trip next week. Thanks

If you did not put on the 91-94 transmission bracket it won't work without slotting the '90 bracket holes to get the correct cable length.

So I need the 91-94 trans bracket for a fwd. Does it need to be the 4g trans? I only ask cause there aren't many fwd turbo cars at the junkyard.

I found the Vfaq earlier today, and it looks like i need the 91-94 shift cables too. Cause i put in the trans bracket and that made it worse. So i am gonna have to deal with it for right now. I dont have time to find cables before i leave on Wed.
