blah blah, hitler this, jews that.

I really am not sure what my opinion is on this subject yet, but Tom, really, quit trying to make this more than it really is.

I refuse to sit here and let you talk down on religion. When you can prove that there is or isn't a God, please let me know. You just struck a nerve with me and you need to watch what you say from now on.

In no way do I support anything Tom has added to this thread, nor do I agree or disagree with you...

But what you said is a key component to this whole situation. Its freedom of religion, or lack there of. Its the right in this country to believe in what you believe.

Replace the word God with Allah, or with "a higher power", or Budda, or "aliens from a distant galaxy", and I could see an argument between any two people of different faiths arguing in front of a proposed "place of faith and worship".

Its America. :)

Oh jeeze, religion.

Super anti-religion people (read: Bill Maher, Tom, etc) are some of the biggest hypocrites I know.

You people keep crying about how religion exists, and that it's all so FUCKING stupid, etc etc. Basically just trying to push YOUR BELIEFS of anti-religion onto other people (doing the same thing that a lot of you are crying about). While a majority of the time people aren't trying to convert you to Christianity or something as a defense, but simply tell you to shut up and let people be. I never see posts, or really much of anything coming from people that say "Christianity is the only way to to, I hate all other people!" As long as you respect other peoples beliefs (which you clearly don't) they will respect yours. Stop being such an ass hole about what someone wants to have faith in. It's not your call to tell them it's not true.

Oh darn, tax troubles ;)

Time for elected officials to step in and do what their constituents want for once:

Again, calling it a mosque when it isn't a mosque. How many of those people who are against such a trivial thing are misinformed about what it actually is? I'm willing to bet most if not all of them are.

Wow, the Christians really have a way of showing it with this whole debate? Maybe your the one confused about respecting other peoples beliefs. (Muslim is a belief by the way).

People on both sides of the debate are calling it a mosque. What do you call a place a bunch of Christians go to pray? A church. What do you call a place a bunch of muslims go to pray? A mosque. ;) Calling it by a different name is just splitting hairs if you ask me.

I didn't say I was against the "mosque" did I?

The "mosque" is being financially backed by a terror-group supporter :)
