Gee. PS3s only had this since... uhm... its inception! MUAHAHAH. Until you dont have to pay to use xbox live, ill be sticking with my ps3. Plus the 30% failrate doesnt help.
Yes, because the PS3 online community is absolutely stellar. The vast majority of the red ring failures are easily fixable as well.

Ive had numerous friends of mine have theirs completly bricked where they had to return it. One friend is on his 4th xbox due to all kinds of failures not limited to software issues. And another friend is on his 3rd.

PS3 Online community? Whats that? LOL It lets me play games when i want to and if i want to play online, it lets me as long as i have an internet connection, it lets me connect with friends. I think its good.
In reality, i dont do a whole lot of online gaming with my ps3, the Blueray player is awesome, The Media Server works great, and if i want to play any pictures, music, videos etc i can do that. Couldnt ask for more on this. :)

I've got both the PS3 and xbox...PS3 was the highest reviewed bluray player for the price, and is still considered the best one for its range I believe, which is the only reason I bought it. I hate gaming on the PS3, the only game I have ever really played on it is the Show.

Also PS3 is going to start charging for online gaming...they will still offer the free version, at least for now i believe, but they are going to add an upgraded account option.

The gamestop by me said they should have them in by the end of week.
Yup, they've already been shipped so stores should have them sometime this week.

The only 360s that absolutely bricked were the early ones. Ever since then the RROD has been almost entirely caused by bad application of thermal paste on the CPU/GPU causing them to overheat. Also, the power supplies were changed in the later Elites and those failures have all but disappeared.

All things that the 360 has as well. Neat. :)

Lets not forget the PS3 has its own optical drive failure issues. There was a nice thread on MNSC about it written by a guy who repairs xboxs and PS3s for a living.

Exactly.

The PS3 is a rockin' bluray player. But I picked up a Magnavox BR player off woot for.. $50. Great deal.

There's one error left that I've found that I can't fix, and that's the 2-ring e74 general hardware failure. That one is generally an ethernet port issue, and short of replacing the mainboard, the box is dead.

I will definitely be picking up one of these new ones. Hopefully that swappable drive is a standard interface so I can transfer all my game saves...

I've had the 2 ring when i picked mine up from iheartdsms, the board isn't perfectly flat. I saw a gap between the board/chips and heatsinks. I did the x clamp mod to get the heat sinks to actually sit on the chips and it works wonderfully.
