That kind of damage has nothing to do with coolant in your oil from any kind of head gasket leak.
so...what do you think could cause it?

Just slap some new valvetrain in let her buck!
That is some nasty damage. What are you planning to do with that thing anyway?

Detonation. Running lean under boost or too advanced of timing. You should have heard some massive pinging with damage like that.

No boost, this is from a 2.5RS! (right?)
I don't think you ever started a thread, you just posted in the shoutbox. People seem to forget that those shouts don't get read by the rest of the world like they can be on the regular forum, they die too quickly.

Ya if thats a 2.5rs than it wouldn't have been boosted unless someone did a homemade setup like i was gonna do on my 98 Legacy. Shit i still have my 2.2 and turbo pistons laying around for that dam thing.

No boost, and the timing belt was done roughly 5000 miles or so before this happened. I didn't hear a thing when this happened. If I recall, we were listening to music, but I don't have any bumpin system in my rs. The car just suddenly studdered and died as soon as I put it into neutral.

Hmm, then are you sure the timing marks were lined up properly?

I've seen a few of Subbie's where one of the cam gear dowel pins broke (belt/gear spins but cam doesn't)
You know a little something about that old man Hill 04 DSM Shootout
