Just being honest with you here... I think you guys need to find your style playing music with each other. To me, it sounds like you each want to sound like a different band.

Keyboards playing melodic lines, guitar playing punk(ish) style, and a drummer using alot of double kick on the base drum. It just doesn't mix well together.

I'm all for new styles of music, and I'm not trying to be a prick, I really just think you guys need to find that groove together. Good luck and I wish you guys success! :)

+1. I found myself getting completely lost as to where the melody went about 3/4 of the way through Brotein Shakes, and the keyboard never really seemed to fit in with the rest of the song, but maybe it was just the sound he used.

Lack of Intelligence wasn't as bad, but still wasn't really anything to get me excited. The whole "metal meets pop-punk" thing you're trying to work with just doesn't really mix. It's hard to to get into a song that goes back and forth between a "fun" melody, and fast palm muting and double bass pounding away.

I like pop-punk (played drums in a band like that for about 6 years) and I like metal, but I don't think the two styles should be mixed.

I haven't seen these responses, but I do appreciate the input. And of course, like every band, genre, etc. there's gonna be opinions on things. I personally don't like Brotein Shakes, it was just the first song I wrote to. It was already pre-written musically before I was in this.

As far as the metal meets pop punk thing, yea, I felt the same way, and kinda still do but we're still new and kinda experimenting with what 'sound' we wanna shoot for. Trust me, I've been thinking... man, maybe we sound like a confused band, maybe we don't, who knows since its so hard to judge yourself. It'll kinda depend on how others respond to it since sometimes its not necessarily a bad thing to try something out of the 'norm'.

BUT anyways, shameless plug. Show tonight @ The Space in St. Paul, MN. 5:30PM, we play first. It's by Concordia somewhere.... I've never been there. I know some people on here are coming so that's cool.

And to finish off this book of a response, I appreciate all the input and the minimal "hate"-criticism. :) HOPEfully we get our mixes back soon (that we recorded in PA of our upcoming EP) and I'll update you guys (anyone that's interested) on what the finalized versions ended up like (structure/sound-wise).

Waiting for the mixes to come back, then mastering. I only have a rough un-mixed copy and its still about 5x better than the demos (song structure, parts moved, better recording obv, etc...)

Isn't there a site that you can show off your band on that isn't Myspace like last.fm or something? I loathe Myspace...

Yea, but its the most "known" for now... last.fm is weird and I haven't quite figured it out yet. Someday, we'll have a real URL ;-) .
