I just dont understand how people can flip their cars through the air like that....

Autocross cars also don't travel at 100mph+ very often.
Matt is pointing out that the wings still move around quite a bit and could benefit from additional bracing.

I clicked a few links and read a bit more about it. It appears that it happened at VIR and it might have been a NASA event. There are several pages of discussion on this and wings in general if you follow it a little bit.
Apparently this guy had one of the ones with 1/4" braces. One of the same wings in 1/8" broke recently as well.
