I was very happy to hear neither of you guys were hurt. It's also good to see that a lot of your parts are still salvageable from the car.
That is a crazy amount of sand on the corner though. What helps in the winter hurts in the spring :(

Any idea if the city/county has any liability for having that much sand on the road? We've had some pretty good rains this spring and it's taken care of most of the sand on the roads. That corner looks absolutely terrible—literally, I have never seen so much sand on a road—you'd think someone would have the responsibility to clean it up and make it safe for the spring/summer/fall.
When Hughes called to tell me about it I couldn't believe it. Just glad y'all are ok. Well, ok from the accident...not sure how well you guys fared the ire of the spousal units upon your return home...

I'm just really happy that the both of you walked away. That must have been scary.

The sand was not just on that corner but the whole area was like a beach, scheides had warned the group about the area and the potential danger. Very thankful no one was hurt, the car really did it's job, and everyone pitched in a moments notice. Scheides you have a great attitude about the whole thing, may you have as much fun with your next project.

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone!
I forgot to add (I've told the story so many times now, so excuse me for adding details later) that the roll was as un-violent as it could have been. I literally have only a few cuts on me, and my head/back hurts a bit from just landing upside down for a moment.
The worst of the damage on me:

It was an unfortunate event to say the least. I take pride in being a good driver and knowing the limits of myself and my car, and I do all I can to promote people to become better drivers themselves. But when I see that one of my friends failed, and not only had an accident but totaled the car, I feel like I failed. The road conditions played a part in this, though all in all it's the nut behind the wheel who is in control. Hopefully we can all use this as a wake up call to better ourselves when behind the wheel. After all, the best mod anyone can do is the driver mod.
Anyway, Scheides was warned... I guess it's Peter's fault this happened since he didn't include my words in the packet. ;)

Sucks about the car Scheides! Glad nobody was hurt, and I know you'll come back harder with whatever new car you get.

It is ironic that Scheides and I were worried all last week and preached pretty hard about this sandy section. Accidents happen.

Well, in Scheides' defense, his exhaust and wheels are shiny.

Well it seems like those times when you were a kid and your mom always told you "don't stick your hand on the red coil thing on the stove. It is really really hot"
Well, that "red coil thing" just got your attention so much and it looked to cool. You didn't care what your mom said. You wanted to test your mom.
So you touch it and burn the hell out of your hand... You'll remember that that "red coil thing" on the stove it really hot... (this comes from experience)
