Going to purchase a mountain bike any suggestions.

screw the $100 wally world bike. You kinda get what you pay for here. Not saying you need to go out and drop $2k on something but if you can put together a couple hundred you will get a much better bike.

Best thing to do is go waste some time at a bike shop and make sure you get the proper sized bike. The worst thing to do is get the wrong size cause you will hate every second of it. Most of the time the shop will help out with any adjustments for the first yr or so, dept stores lack any sort of service if its needed.

You dont really need to stick with the major name brands. There are plenty of other companys out there with great products. The good side to the name brands is generally a little cheaper. I'd suggest getting a mountain bike and then you can use if for anything.

Well i'm home and I should be ready for a bike any day now, took everyone's advice and I am looking at some CL bikes just to see if i actually use it this year.
Found a lot of "specialized" brand bikes, I might take a trip to the schwinn cycle by me and get more educated.

Go to Erik's too, they always have a great selection of Specialized bikes and their staff is generally very friendly and knowledgeable.

Aaron, I've got a used full suspension bike I'll sell you for $100. It could use new tires but is pretty decent other than that. It's a good quality bike, can't remember which one, I've had it for a few years.

Erik's bike shop, or Penn Cycle. I bought my GT at Penn cycle in the summer of 2000. It was a 1999 model (but it was brand new), and I paid $300. Nice frame, front suspension, and most importantly, it fit me. Making sure you get a bike that fits you properly will make riding fun instead of awkward.

Ive got a Trek 3700 with front suspension I could sell you for $100, it was my first trails bike but I ended up getting a full suspension bike. (which in retrospect im not sure was a good idea)

You don't really need a full suspension bike to ride the trails, a lot of people ride with NO suspension at all.
