can i use the driveshaft on my 90 even tho its off a 91+?

iirc, you will need a 91+ tranny/transfer case to mate with the 91+ driveshaft because of the spline count of the tc.

Im pretty sure that the spline count on the driveshafts are all the same 90 - 94.

If you have a 1990 Tranny & X-Case and you want to switch over to a 91+ setup you will need to change your tranny and X-case but the driveshafts are the same 90-94.

I dont know if i misread your post or not but hopefully that clears up the confusion.

ok it must have been just the tc that has the different spline counts per 90/91+
thanks for clarification, so to the op, yes the driveshaft would fit.

To use a 91-94 trans in your 90 you can do one of 2 things:
(1)swap the cables, and shifter assembly
(2)swap out the bracket on the transmission

89-90 T-cases are 22 spline input whereas 91+ are 23-spline. The outshafts of all T-cases are 21-spline (in other words the propshafts will interchange) Most driveshafts will fit into any 1g trans, awd/fwd/AT/MT doesn't matter.

To use a different t-case (ie, 22 T-case to 23 spline trans) you can simply swap out the output shaft from the transmission. Literally takes 15-20 mintues and doesn't require transmission removal. In other words, running a 91+ trans (23-spline) with a 90 T case (22 spline) just aquire a 22-spline output shaft (I keep 1 of each just for that reason)
