E85 has a habit of eating pump socks, inexpensive fuel lines, etc. There's a price to be paid with anything.

Thats kind of a high price tag....
That is almost the cost of a standalone.
One of my thoughts was to leave the original system in place but have a secondary fuel system hooked to a smaller tank. You would have to add 4 more injectors but you could fill the smaller tank with whatever you wanted.
The 4 injectors would be progressively controlled and be shut of under a PSI
But now that I just reread all of this, thats a lot of work...
However there is the possibility of just running 87 octane in the regular tank and having premium (or E85) in the smaller tank (how often are we on the turbo anyway for the DD out there)
however I bet I could do that under $600... Fuel cost would make up for that eventually
I over thought this completely....
I had a question then about the injectors, what are they made out of so that they wouldn't corrode?
I haven't ever seen that much corrosion...

Looks like the -3 will be a really nice setup!
The HFS-3's adjustability is limited compared to the HFS-6.
It cannot (compared to the HFS-6):
- offset against the initial F-IDC - the F-IDC threshold % = starting point of meth flow %
- It doesn't have manifold pressure compensation
- alter the failsafe reset period = pegged at 3 seconds
- read "Direct Injection" pulses such as the 335i or Audi FSI pulses
- control a MAC valve directly as with the HFS-6
It can:
- put gain on the incoming F-IDC for purpose of having large fuel injectors running low DC. Previously, the HFS-5 has to be double pulsed.
- You can run the system based on boost or IDC only. In single or progressive mode.
- You can program it to be single point (HFS-1) or PWM-V mode (HFS-5).
The HFS-6 has futher electronic signal processing to match the FAV's opening and closing period. That is all I can think of so far.
IMHO this makes the -3 the kit to get, as you get progressive injection for the cost of a single-stage kit. Hopefully I can get my hands on a kit sooner or later and we'll see how it works :)

This system is pretty amazing bang/buck now that I see how it works; I think I want one! :D
Anyone want to buy a HFS-1 kit? :)
