ok, so i have been looking at this how to page http://www.team-2g.com/mitsubishi-eclipse/diy-how-tech-articles/27943-how-install-walbro-tank-fuel-pump.html
I take off my cover for my fuel pump and see this:

I bought a walbro 255 with 2g install kit off of extremepsi.com, and am now very confused as to if it will even work, being as the fuel pump housings are completely different.
The reason I ask is that right now, the fuel line closet to the bottom of thee pic is rusted on, and I am waiting for the pb blaster to hopefully break it loose, so I can pull the pump.
Is this even a 2g fuel pump assembly?
thanks in advance!

it looks to be a 2g. my 1g the plug is not on the sending unit. pull the sending unit out and compare the actual pumps.

alright thanks. A novice mistake, but I realized that the FWD and AWD differ in the sealing, where FWD is a different type of housing, then AWD. So i answered that myself :Flush:
I guess my main question is, is that the right spot to be loosening the bottom fuel line?

yeah that's the right spot. they don't always want to come apart easy so just becareful to not wreck the tube going into the sending unit.

Where's the white plastic ring? Your car is FWD, right? Maybe the tanks are different. That looks like the setup of a 1G or evo w/ the small nuts and no plastic ring.

Yea the FWD and AWD are different. And +1 on being careful taking that fuel sending line off, it'll twist really easy and it'll be a pain to fix. Use a flare wrench.

there's no plastic ring on the fwd 2g's. vfaq has a write up on 2g fwd and the sending unit looks the same as his

Like you already figured out the awd and fwd are two different sending units.
I thought it was too risky to try and take off the line from the sending unit, so I did it like the vfaq says from under the car. Check out vfaq.com and go the fuel page and they have some good instructions.

I had to use a vice grip to get my line off. Flair wrenches sometimes just don't do the job. Turn the side with the rubber line and try not to move the steel line part at all or it may crack. Yours doesn't look rusty at all so it should come apart with no issues, just be careful with the 6 little bolts as they are fragile (use an impact).

All is good, I ended up just doing what vfaq did, and pulled the bottom fitting apart, it's so cold, i didn't wanna crack that piece up top. It's all put back together, and works great! Thanks for the info and help everybody!
