I see heat shields everywhere, remember the pic above is a cut-away. This setup sure makes oil feed and drain lines nice, think about doing a bolt-on turbo upgrade on this thing...woot! :)

New v8 diesel pickups will (or do now) have a reverse-flow head design like this, puts the heat all in one spot, and it's MUCH more compact this way. Think of having a turbo hanging off the sides of a wee-8, and how much less room you'd have for wide tires in the front. ;) It's also for emissions, cost savings (single down pipe and exhaust as opposed to two that merge under the car.

I like it. Direct injection, all aluminum engine.

Well, it's hard not to like a BMW. They pretty much do everything right as far as a stock, daily driver goes. I'd certainly consider picking up another 325xi as a daily, but that's pretty much the only affordable version and it's 175hp or something piddly like that.

Too bad its direct injection, good luck making much power with that, ask the Mazdaspeed guys.

Direct injection is in my car and various others that can make good power. You just need a high pressure pump and you are set.

Yeah, I guess the CDFP (cam driven fuel pump)is more of a problem than direct injection is. As long as someone actually makes an aftermarket pump that performs well I guess.

^yup, almost ALL of the aftermaket pumps for the vw 2.0t (direct injection) motor have issues with wearing out cam followers or way worse the actual cam lobe itself! Stupid. There has to be a better way.

So why doesn't your car make good power? ;)
