View Full Version : New Turbo Problems
After installing my turbo, I took it very easy until I burned out all of the old gas in the tank. I was running 10psi (I stepped on it once to check the boost). The gas is gone and I was about ot tune but I cannot build more than 0-2 psi boost. I did a boost leak test and cannot pump more than that in my system. I am using a compressor. I cannot hear any leaks though. I am guessing that my vaccum lines are set up wrong or something. It is wierd that I could hit 10psi before though. I checked the turbo (spins freely, no shaft play). Am I missing a line? I routed my vaccum lines as follows:
Intake manifold------T-------BOV
The T goes to another T (shown below)
then turbo compressor nipple-------T-----mbc------tial wastegate
Is there somthing wrong with the wastegate maybe?

maybe your wastegate is stuck open?
That is what I was guessing but it is brand new.

If you can't get more than 2 psi in your intake while using a air compressor you have a serious leak. How does the car run besides not being able to build boost? what type of MAS? Another thing...whats with all the T's? Run the one line from the manifold to the BOV alone, then run another line from the compressor nipple to the MBC to the wastegate. Keep it simple when it comes to vacuum lines...the less you have the less to go wrong.
I am running a 2g MAS. For some reason I thought the lines had to be connected like stock.
The car seems to run fine except when I get on it w/o boost. Vaccum seems to be really high though. Vaccum is around 18-20 hg. Last year on my 16g I was getting ~10-12 hg (I have hks 264's and was told that it is normal vaccum with them).
You have a major boost leak. Check all of your IC couplings. You probably forgot to tighten one of them.
I tried a boost leak test earlier and didn't hear anything. Maybe it was leaking quiker than it was going in. I will try it again later.

If you arent building any boost then there is a leak. It is leaking out as fast as you are putting air in.. Thats why you cant hear it when you stop putting air in... Its all gone.
Happened to me. I found the air leaks though. Try using soapy water or just your hand and feel for leaks.

or use a spray bottle and watch where it blows away
