Hey guys, I'm brand new to DSMstyle, but not to DSM's. Well, new in the aspect of learning to work on them. My brothers both have DSM's and have had them since I was pretty young. My oldest brother has a Kensington Grey 1992 Galant VR-4, which you should see coming out of Elite Autosport soon. My other brother, Daneatsv8's has a 1991 Galant VR-4 in Summit white, and a 1997 Eclipse GSX.

I'm the newbie youngest brother and have a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI 1G-A. Being 16 and having your first DSM is a great feeling. I'm situated in the Roseville area.

Long story short, after dropping in my new engine, everything seems to be running well with the exception of a few things.

1. There is a sucking noise coming from my intake manifold, not my intake with filter, my intake manifold. The "leak" isn't coming from the throttle body, I'm sure of that. I can't feel any air leaking out either.

Is that sucking noise normal?

That ties into my next question.

2. For some reason, my idle is stuck at 500 RPM. If I back in or back out the BISS, there is no effect. Is there something wrong with my TB? Or would it have to do with my intake "leak". I put leak like "leak" because I do not know for sure if it is one.

Thanks in advance.

Few picture introductions.

Fairly stock rebuild with all the supporting mods for a Evo 3-16G, which it is currently running.

sounds like you have a really big vacuum leak.

i was redoing my bov earlier and started the car without the vacuum line hooked up and the car would sit right around 500 rpm very roughly

there are i think 3 vacuum nipples in the injector valley and there might also be one on the back or under the intake manifold

looking closer at the picture, i dont see a vacuum line for the bov, at the bov or the manifold

edit, it also looks like your turbo isnt bolted up?

Do you guys have a boost leak tester if not I would build one and test for any leaks on all the cars, lol.

Welcome as well!

Thanks guys, I'm going to check the vacuum caps in the injector valley. The line from the BOV is there, you just can't tell from the picture. The turbo is bolted on. The water lines are deleted.

Thanks for all your comments guys.

Whenever I've had major vacuum leaks like forgetting to hook up a line it always idles higher than normal, never below 1000rpm.
Maybe check airflow readings? Is that a 2g mas?

Welcome, I'm in the Roseville area as well. I live on ruggles off Lexington. Should see me around in my white 1gb gsx. I also agree with the boost leak test.
