So here's the deal:

Got a steal of a deal on a 91 tsi. Put a new water pump, tstat, t belt, and fluids in. Runs great now, IT JUST WON'T SHIFT OUT OF 3RD GEAR. It goes into park and reverse kinda hard, but in drive its really hard to start out and then it won't shift up or down at all with changes in speed.

I checked the transmission fuse and it's fine. I thought I ran a TCU diagnosis scan and got 14 which is for a TPS. Adjusted that, still nothing.
Any ideas on what to do?

Where can I find the TCU?
Anybody have another one I could try out to see if it works?
HELP!

thanks

If it threw a code for the TPS I would try a different TPS that is known to be good.

no if its in limp mode something is up with the tranny or the tcu if you got around $150 i can get you a shift box that will force the tranny to shift but you will be using the box to shift from now on. ill have a tcu for sale in under a month if you can wait

Also, did you check the fluid level? I know a lot of chrysler auto trannies will go into limp mode if there isn't enough fluid in.

Are all the connectors for the tranny plugged in? There is one that controls the valve body, if its not plugged in the tranny will be stuck in 3rd gear.
