Ok so i have a 1997 eagle talon tsi that the tranny whent out in two days ago and i was wondering how hard it is to convert to a manual like what all is involved as parts wise any help would be awesome .

Easy 2-step swap:
-sell car
-buy car
If you search around a bit though this topic has been covered in-depth a few times on this board already and should outline everything you'll need to do and buy.

Kinda bucking the trend, most are going 5-speed -> auto these days.

I know febo did it to his car before he got rid of it, but VFAQ.com has a write up on it you can read into. I'm sure others have too, but i'd just go manual... unless you have no other options.

All things considered, I wish I had one or two AT dsm's the benifits are pretty awesome: no clutch, and shifting BS. and you keep your spool between gears!
maybe you guys should look into getting a built AT transmission with a high stall converter....then it will drive like a 5 speed.

If it helps any i just got done collecting all my swap parts for my 92 im going to make a good write up with pics to help out others. but its not going to start until next month
