I wanted to get some more info on the 7 bolts. Everything I have dealt with has been 6 bolts and I have just been warned to stay away from them. With a dsm all you need is an engine that creates even more problems. Now I was talking to someone who seemed half way inteligent in the dsm world. He was tellingme that 7 bolts in the 1g aren't known to crank walk but have weaker rods? Can anyone fill me in with some info about this?

6 bolts came in the 90-92.5's, 7 bolts were 92.5-99. I also had a 7 bolt from a 94 Crankwalk on me.
Here is a helpful link to some of the differences between different years and models of dsm's:

it does not matter if it is a 6 bolt or 7 bolt they both can walk. the evo 3 has it's 7bolt in it still and is a hks engine that was beat the hell out of as a rally car before I got it. it had a exedy 3 puck clutch in it. since I have had it it has had a act 2900, QM twin plate and now is getting a hks twin plate and is still going strong. also have a 93 7bolt in the 95 mirage coupe that is also just fine.

They both can crankwalk and they both can make power. Pick your poison.

Should have mentioned I have also had a 6 bolt crankwalk on me in 1300 miles. Just like Matt D. said, they both crankwalk and they both make power.
