hey guys i have a question for all you MNers. My friend has a vehicle that he recieved from the junkyard and is gonna give me. it was impounded and then went to the junkyard and so now he has it. the vehicle belonged to a friend of mine which i am in contact with right now and he is looking for the title so he can give to me also if he can find it. but he knows the plates are still on it if that makes any difference in helping for anything. my question is, whats MN like for lost titles if it comes down to that? all anyone tells me is that its a bitch..

All he has to do is go to the DMV and get a copy of the title. They aren't that expensive.

http://www.dps.state.mn.us/dvs/motorvehicl...s/titlefees.htm (http://www.dps.state.mn.us/dvs/motorvehicle/mv%20fees/titlefees.htm)

That *might* have it, I dunno what you are looking for exactly.
the DMV site is a bitch to navigate IMHO

Straight from the DMV website:
Title transfer - $4
Filing fee - $7

Maybe a few more dollars here or there in hidden fees.

Well if the title was lost you'd obviously need a new duplicate one, correct?

yeah but their their duplicate could be ment for something else like just a zerox copy or some crap. this is a federal branch which they love to pull shit like that. thanks for the info though ;)

or if the title was in his name the both of you can go down to the dmv and transfer it into yours. this will have to be done buy you anyway. but your fucked if its not in your buddys name. or if hes not willing to go down there with you to do it. there is another way but it cost a ton and you can't do anything with the car for like 7 years. or someone can come back and claim it.

he is has agreed to help me out and give me the title as soon as he can find it. then i will own a repoed gsxr 750 for 150 bucks from the other guy who has the bike in his possesion. my friend couldnt get this bike back because it would cost him a couple grand since to cops took it away and then since it sat for so long in a garage they took it to a junkyard where my other friend got it from them.
