How bad & should I be scared of this little chunk , I'm gonna get it fixed ASAP.. or just rubber cement it for now & then do asap....
Grrrr.. wish I was more confident to do it myself.
Chris do you remember what the millage was when you did the timing belt b4?

I think it could be worse.

But at the same time, I've had a belt fail on me before, and then you're just in a whole new world of hurt that you don't want to get into.

I'd say get that thing changed as soon as you can.

It will *probably* be fine for a while, but I wouldn't risk it for too long if I were you.

The question is, what caused it in the first place?

Tbelt was the first thing I did on that car, along with bshaft elim, new clutch, motor mounts, rewire half of the 6-bolt swap and.....heh yea we could call that 'round 1' LOL!

That was right around 86k miles I think.

Good Question.. afraid I wont know (or may never know) till I pull it apart or have MAP or someone do it for me.... I wanna try to do it myself, but I'm not very confident on that large of a project alone, but if I did it myself I think i might be able to afford cams....

Thanks! bout time to do it again then I suppose.. I'm at 144K.

OEM. About $60 from Brookdale Mitsu.
I was afraid to do the timing belt as well, but took my time and got it re-assembled in less than 2 hours. Now I wouldn't have a second though about doing it, it was sort of fun learning a new thing too. Maybe have a friend stop by to check the tensioner and that everything lines up right. If you turn it over by hand a few times at least you'll know you aren't going to bend a bunch of valves right away.
