I made the trip to chicago, when I was going to UTI, in my laser 3-4 times. Never had a problem. Then again my laser was damn near stock, except a fmic, and intake...haha. I got those drives down now, I can make it to chicago in around 6-6.5hrs.

I have the taller 5th gear that I am hoping to take advantage of.

The worst part about long trips, at least for my car, is the lack of cruise control.

I don't have CC, AC, or PS. :)

Chicago cars are quite the crazy ones at night though.

They are insanely crazy. Gotta watch all mirrors at all times!

I can make it to chicago in around 6-6.5hrs.

Best time I got was 5 hours 45 mins. Usually average 5 hours 50mins to 6 hours.

I have the taller 5th gear that I am hoping to take advantage of.

Lucky..

Last fall on the Duluth Cruise I averaged 26-27 mpg. I wasn't exactly nice to the car on the way up, but the cruise back home was a little smoother.

I really should have clocked my milage when i drove from MN to CA when i first came down here. in my 1999 GSX Auto All i really had done was intake, T28 turbo and HKS Blow off valve (to atmos) and over the 1975 miles i only had to fill up i think 5 or 6 times. one of the times i was still at a quarter of a tank. but i feel i was getting pretty good milage considering i had everything i could fit into the car and a friend.

congrats on the long drive, driving an almost 20 year old car that you have almost doubled the power on is no joke.

Yeah, my trunk is usually loaded with a bunch of clothes and groceries. Now my only problem is EVERYONE who walks by my car stops and looks and tries looking inside. It's a good compliment that my car is clean but it still scares me. Good thing it's parked right outside my balcony!
