How much would this suck! .... not that they didn't know the implications of their actions!

We definitely saw this coming. We've been receiving some unconfirmed reports that several of the participants on this year's Gumball 3000 rally had their cars impounded, and the video after the jump is the first visual evidence we've seen. Apparently several of the Gumballers were driving well in excess of the posted speed limit, as high as 170 mph, resulting in three impounded cars, including a Bugatti Veyron, and the drivers going to jail. Follow the jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/06/video-several-cars-impounded-gumballers-arrested-for-speeding/) to hear the MonsterArmy team talk (NSFW) about the impounded cars and to see footage of the Bugatti Veyron getting loaded up onto the flatbed. Thanks for the tip, Brandon!

if you can afford that car im sure that you can afford the best attorney in the whole world. wait actually all of the best attorneys in the world like 5 or 6 of them. I want to see the video of what he was doing to go to jail in his car. Sucks but still funny.

if you can afford to buy the car and get it impounded, they can afford to just buy another. Especially the money in preparing for the gumball not to mention the 20k or whatever it is to enter into the race.

lets see you are driving a gold 1m+ car with gumball stickers on it to start with. all the cops all over the US know what is going on and when they will be coming though. It is just really stuiped to go that fast on the street. we do not have the autobahn that is keeped up so you can go really fast on it

However we have endless stretches of open deserted perfectly maintained freeway in the desert where kids wont be chasing a soccer ball into the street.

Speeding is bad, but they plan these events so that if they do speed, it is in a "safe" place.

Safe is a relative term, there are other people who are traveling those isolated desert roads.

If they closed the roads like they do at the Silver State or Pony Express runs in NV it would be safer for everyone.

Speaking of open road racing. Who's down for a trip to Nevada???

Well, I know a lot of people here have gone well over 150mph in worn out old DSM's, so pointing the finger at a guy driving a million dollar supercar doesn't make much sense. He did it, he got caught, he paid the bill, sounds like fun to me.
