One crank tooth or one tooth on a cam? If it's one tooth on a cam, it will be fine. At the AX class they will encourage you to shift to second early, and leave it in second gear. This will keep the revs lower and be a good way to go. Also with the tensioner tool, it is possible to just de tension the belt fully and skip the timing back into place. I have done it at a dyno day in a parking lot. That car was off 3 cam teeth (1 Crank tooth= 2 Cam teeth) on the exhaust cam. Ran a ton better afterwards.

Also you can make on out of the battery tie down bolt if you still have the stock bolt. You will need to grind off the ears and run a tap up it. It's one or two use only, by will get you by in a pinch.

the car seems to be making excessive belt noise now.. doesnt sound like accessory belts. Will that go away or did i do something wrong?

pull the lid off the gears..see if htere's rubbing. Did you swing that tensioner pulley down, or up?

swung it up, I did look for rubbing and didn't see anything obvious. I'll look again after I drive it a bit more. I'm also gonna try loosening the AC belt in case I cranked down too hard on the tension bolt.

If worst comes to worst, you're welcome to my car tomorrow, with the stipulation that if you break it, you pay for the tow or whatever means it takes to get it home.

I liked doing my timing belt so much, I decided to do it again! It was the balance shaft belt, it was too tight and whining.

I feel better now. Car is running great.

Thanks for the offer cmspaz.
