On my daily driver, 01 stratus r/t with a 6g72, I have 3 cats and 2 resonators. I want it to sound more mean, like it's screaming at you. The way it's setup is theres 2 pre cats, each bolts up to the manifolds. There are 2 o2 sensors, one after each pre-cat. Then there's a main cat welded into the downpipe, and a 3rd o2 sensor. If you gut the main cat, you throw a cel. If you buy headers for these which in turn deletes the pre-cats, you don't throw a cel.

I want to keep the main cat to keep from throwing a cel. So in theory, I can pull the downpipe and drop the pre-cats and gut them, right? I've heard a 3g v6 which is the same as mine with no cats and its the perfect sound I'm looking for. Here's the video of said 3g:

I searched around on club3g but everyone there are anal looney admins who tell you to just buy headers. I don't want to buy headers. So does anyone have any idea or input?

yes, gut them. 3/s guys do it all the time, you should be fine.

Gut/remove all the cats and run a mechanical o2 simulator (2 spark plug non-foulers, 1 drilled out to 1/2" to accommodate the rear o2 sensor).
