This little abomination has been my winter beater for three years running. Now I think it's time to ask for a bit more. This car is mechanically identical to a 90 DSM, with everything being smaller, ie engine, turbo, injectors. Here's what I'm starting with:

Car: 89 Dodge Colt GT

Engine:
1.6l turbo 4G61T. Non intercooled, factory turbo is an 11B.

Performance Mods:
2.5" turbo back exhaust (factory exhaust rusted off, so no baseline there), and a K&N air filter. I dyno'd before and after the K&N and made something like 135whp/140wtrq on LSE's dyno. The K&N picked me up ~2whp.

Visual Mods:
wat?

Plans: Eventually I want this car to be running E85 and a small 16G. Should be more than enough to put a smile on my face with a 2500lb car.

This car has taken more abuse than I could describe. Including setting fire to the front bumper/plate and driving miles in foot deep snow with 800-1000 pounds of people, guns, ammo, steel targets, etc.

The first thing this car needed was an intercooler. I thought the best option to be a DSM sidemount. (Somewhat) easy to install, cheap, and it should do the job. Later in the project I'll be leaning on the cooling effects of E85 a little bit, but that's ok because the car is totally expendable.

Big thanks to Kyle for coming over and spending most of his sunday covered in rusty bits of Colt. We really went to town with the Sawzall here and pretty much solved all of our problems by cutting or smashing. It's ok, the car deserves it and it knows it.

Having a set of 450cc injectors, a DSM MAS, and a DSM ECU laying around we made a late decision to go for it and install all of them.

I also decided to really go for the gusto and spiff the front bumper up with some paint-matched duct tape. I decided to leave the caked-on bondo on the passenger fender and other visual, um, impairments - they give the car character.

Final tally - Performance mods:
1G DSM Sidemount intercooler
450cc injectors to replace the factory 390's.
90 ECU and 1G MAS to control the injectors.

Visual mods:
Duct tape

We had over 1lb of "Colt dust" left over on the floor after all the smashing and cutting.

No. There is really no need. The 4G61t is basically just a de-stroked 4G63t, and they don't make or hold much less power than a 6 bolt '63 with the same mods. I'm just throwing on parts that I have laying around or that I can get cheap. Lots of stuff left over from parting out my DSM 3 years ago like a 16G and a HKS VPC.

Not just alive, indestructible. I can't break it, and trust me I have tried. I have never been nice to this car and it's still never let me down.

My first car was a 89 Colt E. Had the 4g15 and 5 speed and I could not break that thing. I beat the living piss out of it and it kept going. Made me a believer in Mitsu products until I got my DSM. lol

These cars really are indestructable.
