Ah. Its that simple I guess.

lol yea, if you're gunna buy a new 08 or 09 you're dumb if you don't get an 09. My buddy is way into subys and he could tell ya more. I'm still a newb.

I love 2g Talons (especially 97-98), this is a mitsu site after all, haha.

For the WRX I do believe they upped the power quite a bit, and I think a different turbo. Emily looked into one briefly, and the salesman listed a ton of upgrades for 09.

However, you can get a mint 2g with low miles and put a few thousand into it and it'll be much faster, half the cost of a newer wrx, but less reliable (though still not bad if you keep it reasonable, < 350whp). But if you're going to autox it, it's going to put you in SM vs a stock class, so you wont be as competitive at that point.

I guess it depends if you want to mod a cheap car, or have a newish comfortable car that is more reliable and performs better stock.

newer is better, but if you ever find a babied GSX I'd get the GSX. like what Schiedes says, the sky's the limit for these cars. Sometimes I want to get a 2g 97-99 GSX just because of the looks. I'm not a big subbie fan because we're rivals! lol. jk, but it seems that subarus are just much are harder to work on and all. here's a 2g i found on craigslist.

...after they realised Mitsu was waxing the wrx and sti with their evo and the lancer ralliart. :D

I am completely biased. In my opinion the GSX is what I'd prefer, but a ten year old car vs. a brand new/near new car? Thats really the biggest thing. If my plans were not to have a crazy car, a daily driver, I'd definately get the newer car, simply for reliability/comfort.

But when it comes to making power, and going balls out, Subaru's are NOT the car to get in the 4 cylinder world. Mitsu's definitely take the cake.

^I agree.

My question is which is a better dd (light modding). Wrx or Evo?

Not to start a fight or anything, but the ralliart is a joke :).

Back on topic, I would go with the WRX honestly...but I am kind of biased. It will be much more reliable and after about 1k in mods ( Full exhaust / Tune) you will be able to beat Stock Evo's/STi's at the track. Not sure what your buddies run but you mentioned not wanting to be the "Slow Guy".

I tuned ralliart would school your STi. :D

Pick whichever car you like more. :)

I LOLd too. Of course a car with 1k in mods will beat the other cars stock... you could just as easily put mods into the Mitsu, probably more easily in fact. Also ralliart have all closed differentials, I don't think the WRX can say that.
