Whatever you do, DO NOT get a Auto!
I need to hold on to the title of the slowest local DSM!
AT's aren't bad if the TC, shift kit, and a few other goodies like N.O.S to get you out of the hole.

This is gonna piss everyone off....I prefer FWD to AWD. I just find it a lot more fun for street driving (not for drag though). It is also easier to make them handle better. the improved gas economy is a plus too. I used to have a GSX but I sold it.
I don't miss AWD as much anymore either, but hell I drive a NT. WTF do I know.

Save some money on the car and get a first gen TSI AWD or GSX. Then take the extra money you have and mod the shit out of it. Better car to start with and more money to start modding. :3gears: :3gears:

Well, I lack the skills to properly drive a manual so I'm pretty much forced to get an AT.

i don't know I might actually have you beat on that one!.
as for the car. Definetely get the 5spd AWD. if you want a REd one.
go to www.buyafastcar.com they have about 8 dsm's right now a white 98 and a Red 98, and a few GS-T's.
Anycase they are located in NJ it's a dealership, and they specialize in performance cars. They give warranties, as well as financing.
And every once and a while they have realy good deals.

Just untill you get that new diff!
If your looking for a clean A/T car, I'd be open to offers?
98 TSI, AWD, 69k, with a "few tricks" up it's sleeve.....;->
Why are you buying the car for? Racing? A daily driver? If you plan on doing any racing do not get an auto. It is not hard to learn a manual. Someone can teatch you quickly. You will regret getting an auto when you start losing to honda civics. Ask Jana (dsmchick) and Tom (tpunx) on here. They both have auto GSXs. I test drove a 97 gst spyper (auto). You dont even notice the turbo kick in. All you do is hear it. A gst couldn't put me in the back of my seat even from 20mph mash of the throttle.
Personally, AT's are better for racing anyway :D with the proper build up
