Paint/rust repair ?

Does anyone do rust repair and paint that needs side work? Or can you recommend a shop?
Just picked up my second 2dsm on Saturday, first thing is a tune after that I’m going to fix the rust and have it repainted oem grn, but it’s a 1997 talon tsi awd (super big ugly dish wing J) so I want the roof, side mirrors and spoiler painted the same grn to match. It has rust on the doors and trunk lid, but only surface rust. The rust on the hood is a little worse, and the rear rocker panels are pretty bad.

Maaco said to repair the rust and repaint the car would be $950. BUTTTTTTT that’s Maaco.
My mom “knowsa guy that does body work for a living” I know nothing about him yet, figured I’d throw it on the forum before going to him or Maaco. With the way the economy is I figured a $1000+/- side job could help someone out, and they would get a lot more money to do it in their garage than the poor guy at Maaco is going to see in his pocket for the same work.

My opinion...
Get a carbon hood/trunk and leave the top black and just fix the door. probably cost you about $1000 for all that plus would look IMO alot better.

Carbon Fiber is great! (On the race track.) If I ended up getting CF replacement parts I’d have to paint them

If I was better equipped, I'd be willing to help you out, but since I don't have a place to paint stuff it's kinda difficult.

Green roof and green spoiler? Fugly IMO on a talon

Sounds like the hood and hatch would need to be replaced anyway if they are rusty. The rust would just come back even if you did have it painted. Maybe look around for a hatch and hood or like suggested, carbon fiber.

Also sounds like the car is pretty rotted everywhere, is it even worth messing with?

It's actually pretty clean, the rust on the hatch and hood is only surface rust but I'm not a big fan of any rust. i'll let you know in the next couple weeks what the repair cost and post pics, ohhh and i wouldnt just paint the roof, id also paint the pillars so instead of being the two tone green and black it'd be the solid green like an eclipse or like a black talon ofcourse. I ve always thought the two tone and unpainted mirrors/ door handles made talons and any car look incredibly cheap and tacky.

Ok. looks like I'm going have Jer take it to Maaco Next Sat. If he can.... Until then anyone want to do it? Make an offer? Go Check it out? Will gladly spend $1500 for quality work.
