Well in july the woman and I are going to vegas for a friends wedding so its a wedding / my first ever real vacation. I've never been on a plane and my family never really did vacations. So this is a pretty huge deal to me. So here is the thing, Where the hell should I stay? I know one thing I want to be right on the strip with a window view like you see on tv. We are going there 07/06 til 07/10 going monday morning and coming back friday night. Any pointers to you all that have done the vegas thing a few times? Which site should I use or which one have you had the best results with? We are taking allegent air at a whooping 100 bucks each person each way so that isn't any money at all.
All insight on planning would be great.

www.vegas.com has always been the cheapest I've found; but if you're only looking for a hotel you'd probably be fine just booking on the hotel's website.
I really like the Flamingo Hotel. Its right in the center of the strip, is reasonably priced, has an awesome pool/lawn area, has an outdoor flamingo habitat, has multiple good restaurants/buffets, and it was just renovated a year or two ago.

Stay downtown. The strip is an 'adult disneyland' and gets full of drinked intots after dark.
Downtown is where the 'serious' vegas visitors stay. D/T can be loads cheaper with heftier bennies & discounts too.
