View Full Version : Timing And Cas Adjustments

I am now putting my head back on and was running into some concerns I have based on putting it in. I copped out and ziptied the timing belt to the cam gears and just laid the gears over the side. The cams were taken out and swapped, I got them back position they were in originally(TDC). The CAS was also taken off, I don't know how to align this, according to the deal service manual it says to put it into the matching notch in the cam(duh) but too also align with a line on the head before bolting it down. I don't see this mark, I may be blind or it might not be there. My main concern is what would happen if this is done incorrectly and if so would it be able to be driven to a shop be looked at(such as QPR, only 10 minutes away).
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks in advance.

If you want Matt, tell us how to get there and I am sure one of us (probably me) will head over and make sure it is all right for you. Call the shop in the morning and we can get it all figured out.

i thought that the cas adjusted itself? if you were to just put it somewhere in the middle wouldn't it work by itself?
sorry.... still a newb to dsm's as well as just about all other imports

The ECU adjust timing advance/retard on its own depending on certain conditions, but there is a baseline that the ECU goes off of. If the CAS isn't aligned properly then the rest of the timing adjustments will be off also.
