I too am looking for suspension for my 1G.
I have installed KYB AGX's/ground control coilovers in a buddys talon and in my galant VR4.
I will never those again, crappy ride on our freeway system.
Currently, I am thinking about getting some Snesatrack suspension with megan lowering springs. or I will use stock front springs, but chop the springs.
I have stock wheels and tires. on my DD DSM
Galant 205/50/16 crappy ride
Talon 215/45/17 crappy ride

I got stock KYB's on Hypercoils and it is a very smooth ride. Too bad you never went for a ride in my car.. My car wont be on the road for awhile either.

I have KYB AGX and Eibach ProKits in our 1G. It is fine in the summer, but in the winter it can be extremely bouncey for extended periods on some of the freeways around here. The bouncing probably starts at around 40-50 degrees outside and gets worse and worse as it gets colder out. The spring rate might be too high for the weight of the car though, since it isn't 100% stock weight.

I wouldn't run a coilover in the winter either; they are not designed to withstand the salt and winter environment like shocks are. Also, they will definitely ride rougher than a quality progressive-rate lowering spring. I suggest trying some KYB AGX shocks and your choice of progressive aftermarket spring (maybe even try them with your ProKits first).
I used my ksports for 3 months starting in january. by the time i pulled them off they looked like they had been lying in the bottom of a lake for 5 years. Previously I had BC Racing coils on the car for a full witner - they looked brand new when I removed them. The damper adjusters never froze and the perches moved smoothly. It seemed like the ksports just used cheaper materials and were not put together very well. Considering these were marketed as a "rally coilover" i expected better harsh environment performance - I probably only put 1,000 miles on them...

Cool.
Thanks guys. The more reading I do, the more AGXs (turned down for comfort) plus a good spring seem like a good choice.
Really? I personally have Eibach/AGX combo, and the more and more I read, the more and more I hear how AGX's are crappy and don't last. I hear a lot better things about Koni. I think Steve might run Koni's.

Koni's are great shock, definitely superior to AGX's, but you pay accordingly. I had a set of AGX's I bought used, had my 1G slammed, and after 45k miles of rough Duluth-roads driving the fronts were still going strong but the rears had been replaced once (which cost under $200). Overall I was very happy with the shocks though and recomend them to anyone looking to build a nice street 1G w/o breaking the bank.

I have had my 1G ksports for at least 2 years. I daily drive the car spring-fall and I really love the K sports. I have left the front and rear shocks at a very firm setting, but not the hardest. With the damper set at that level, I'd fly out of my seat on big bumps (aka a hint I needed to turn it down a bit). I think I blew my front shocks when I bottomed out over railroad tracks last summer. I would recommend them.

Thanks for the help guys.
I looked at the Koni's and they have an adjustable bottom perch according to MAPs site, this worries me for the winter time and the fact it is something else to go wrong. If not I would spend the money with the Koni's.
Also I was looking at Tein's S-tech springs for the 1g, looks like a decent drop not close to the sportline but lower than the prokits by a little.

Can't beat the K-Sport drop! lol. Seriously, I have told a lot of 1g owners they should drop their cars, and they reply, "I did..." And then I laugh inside.

Its not really about the "drop" i kinda missed the boat on that whole thing.
Luckily I was hit by the old DSM boat of performance over looks.
More research finds that Koni's might be worth the money, but I am worried about that bottom perch. Anyone think it is some thing to cause concern?
Ok, found out that both KYB and Koni's have a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser, there are a ton of AGXs out there that could be fixed.
ANYWHO, these facts are allowing me to determine that I WANT Koni's, so hopefully it happens.
With Pro-kit springs.
I am really getting excited for the season. I have hope.
