I have been very bored lately and thought I'd come up with something to do to my daily.. I decided I would convert the auto shifter to a manual style shifter.

It was actually quite simple and the only thing I had to pay for was a $5 dollar shift boot! I did not take pics during the whole conversion so all I really got are the finished pics.. The overdrive switch is mounted to the left side of the shifter under the shift boot, incase any of you were wondering. So all I have to do is just click it on and off with my thumb. On to the pics!

I was joking around with my friends about welding in a pedal. I think it would be pretty funny to try and have someone drive the car that doesn't know and the confusion on there face when the pedal was just solid and the shifter only went in a straight line. haha

Or make the pedal move back and fourth on a spring and push it in everytime I manually shifted it, but the shifter still would only moved forward and back. I bet I could trick a couple retards at my school with it and tell them it's a specially built trans or something. haha

Neat idea I guess, but it kinda seems silly to give up the convienience factor of knowing what drive you're in.

Well if you know you're car you know what gear you're in. It's not hard.. But I do know what your saying

What about the reverse safety lockout, is that still functional? If not, I'd be cautious about something or someone hitting the shifter to reverse or park while cruising. Accidents happen.

Neat idea though!

I think i might have to do this, what did you have to do. I want this not to fool people into thinking its a manual but to get rid of that massive stock shifter
