Well I sold my car a couple weeks ago and the kid that bought it seemed pretty nice. He didn't seem too keen on how everything works, but he definitely sounded like he had good intentions to take care of the car.
Anyways, I've gotten a few calls from him just asking easy little questions. How to turn off the alarm and whatnot. But I just got a call from him and he explained how he would take the keys out of the car and the heater as well as the brake light, oil light, and my aftermarket boost controller would stay on. It sounds like the car is stuck in "accessory" or something because these lights would all be on if that were the case. I made sure to have him clarify that the keys were in fact out of the ignition and he said this just happened.
Has anybody got a clue on this one??? This has never happened to me in the 4 years I've owned the car.

I know in some cars if you don't turn the key far enough back to the off position and take out the key, it may stay on in accessory mode. Ask him to put the key back in, turn it forward a bit, then back towards off as far as he can.

Just did that. I'll see what happens.
I told the kid to register on here so he could ask questions if he needed, but I think he's gunna settle with calling me with every question. I guess I'm somewhat ok with that since I know some of you guys did that with me for the first couple years haha.
edit: He said he started the car and took the keys out and the lights n stuff are still on. idk what to say really. I've owned it for 4 flippin years and never had anything like this happen. Heck, I've never even heard of this happening.

It doesn't have auto lights correct? Just a regular 2G? Maybe he just isn't switching off the lights and what not...

idk what you mean by "auto lights." I told him to double check the headlights were off and he held the little red button under the car to reset the alarm. Pretty sure it's an alarm issue, but i have absolutely no idea what he messed up.

Pretty sure that red button is the valet mode/alarm disable button if I remember correctly. Been awhile since I have messed with mine. And that guy is referring to daytime running lights I am pretty sure and captain obvious just flew in and said thats obviously not it.

Almost sounds like a stuck relay.

Sorta what I was thinking, but then he said he didn't mess with anything when I asked him. Idk what to say. So I'll probably just wait it out. I feel bad because I know the car very well and I was hoping this wouldn't happen, but oh well
