Well I snapped a timing belt in my 1991 eagle talon with the 2.0 turbo. I have all the parts but havent had time to do this. I am going to spend the day today and get it over with. I am fimiliar in doing timing belts but have never done one on this car. I was looking for some pointers. I have been reading up on the chiltons and the only thing I dont understand is when it says when aligning the oil pump to place the wieghted porsion of the balance shaft down? what the hell is the weighted porsion?

There's a VFAQ on doing your T-Belt I believe as well that you may find helpful.

As for the oil pump, my first question is do you still have your balance shafts? If not, don't worry about it. Just line the dot on the oil pump gear with the pointer.

If you do still have your balance shafts, then you can't just line up the dot with the pointer. There is a chance your gear is 360* off beacuse it also drives one of the balance shafts.

This is the easiest way I know to ensure it's correct. With your hand,rRotate the oil pump gear so the dot is just a little bit away from the pointer, then let go of the gear. It should rotate by itself slightly. If it rotates the dot AWAY from the pointer, then you're gear is 360* off. If it rotates the dot TOWARDS the pointer, then you're good.

Hope that helps a little, let me know if something didn't make sense.
