Today I tested the wastegate actuator on my 1G.
Results - 12.5psi it started to open and was fully open at 15.5psi.
Time for a new one?

Why do you think its shot? Sounds like its functioning perfectly to me.

It's supposed to open at 11 and it seems like I'm making way too much boost. I know I shouldn't trust the stock gauge but it keeps going past max. I'll get an aftermarket soon.

Uh... did you make the numbers up?

If you changed the stock exhaust or intake system piping, then it will make more boost than stock.

The stock gauge guesses anyway.

My exhaust and intake are not stock but I tested the wastegate actuator with it off the car on an air compressor!

A wastegate on a car under boost will open earlier than it will on the bench do to backpressure pushing the flapper open. The backpressure essentially makes it act like a weaker spring.

When you put aftermarket exhaust on a DSM it makes the car run more boost, sometimes to the point of uncontrollable boost creep.

Get a real boost gauge before you make any more assumptions.. The stock gauge does nothing for you.
