Is there any real world performance gains to be had by changing to an aftermarket intake pipe over stock.
Anyone have any proof or experience (seen anything)
Just wondering

1G intake pipe(1G mas) -or- 2G intake pipe(2G mas)
if you have the latter, the answer is no.

I currently have a 2G intake pipe, but I am switching to an FP intake pipe.
Just wondering if there are numbers or anything on bigger intake pipes.

i think it's sort of like comparing stock IC pipes to aftermarket IC pipes. there is a difference if you a 2g mas in a 1g, but it'll be little.

I think you'll notice it's louder, and that it cleans up your engine bay. I don't see it doing anyting else, but hey who the hell am I it may give you better boost response (not that you need it) and how about a little more up top. After all it will flow better. Is that mas hacked?

What I've read before is that since the stock intake tube has those "ribbs" it disturbs the air flow. So a smoother intake pipe should help some. Also read about a guy that wasn't seeing as much air flow as he should have with his turbo and it ended up being his stock intake tube that was restricting him. He also couldn't hold boost up top and the intake was the cause. Maybe it will help you hold more boost!
I have not heard any proof of any HP gains. This may be because that it is such a small mod (and usually one of the first) that it is not worth anyone wasting their time testing.
On other cars, I have noticed it was a little louder (you can hear a whistle). On my dsms, all I hear is the turbo.

I sure do hope it helps, I was thinking that it could be a restriction at the levels I am running the car, we will see.

A stock intake pipe is definitely a restriction at your power level.
