Well I have been thinking about it and I really want to do it, but i don't want to explode a $2000+ tranny doing it. :wetpants:
Also I am tired of shane telling me to do it. LOL :wedgie:
I make 450ish tq and I wanted to do a 100shot because I would use a direct port kit so that it would be delivered evenly.
But I am scared to destroy tranny parts.
There are guys making more power than me on these built trannys and people doing bigger shots than me even on stock trannys.
Just wondering if any had experience with nitrous and DSMs
thanks

At your power levels, I can't see you exploding a built tranny using a 100 shot.

^why not? No offense I just want to be safe.
I would be over 550tq, remember its not just the level its the way it hits too.

Dude, you know the answer. It'll have more wear and tear on everything.. just like making more power however you get it. You always have to pay to play, there is no way/trick around it.

A 100 shot that adds 100hp across the RPM band will add more than 100ft-lbs of torque in the lower/mid RPMs. Mine kept breaking 4th gear with 600ft/lbs. Back when Extreme Motorsport's Talon was making mid 700s and running 9s, wasn't breaking trannies, but it was only making tq in the 400s because they made all the power at high RPMs.

I was just thinking a built tranny would be able to handle 550 lb.ft. without breaking, provided you aren't a monkey when it comes to shifting gears.
I had a direct port kit on my old awd talon but never got around to using it. Not worth me risking a motor while messing around (I was around the same power as you on a 60 trim on a stock block). It would be a bit easier on parts if you were to use a nitrous controller. I had/have plans of a large shot for my viper but wouldn't consider it without a nitrous controller.

I'd be interested to see what kind of gains you get out of it and how you like it. I was thinking of putting a little shot on mine to help with spool and MAYBE make a little bit more up top. Gotta get a better fuel system first though.

Cool, thanks for the info.
Remember how much power my car picked up with the 60 shot from 5k-8500rpm?
Yeah do it!
