One car that I have always wanted to build is a early model 240sx, with a jdm s13 silvia front end conversion, a rb30det (hybrid rb26dett), a massive turbo, full suspension, the works. Nothing sexier than the sound of a skyline motor. Full-race makes a awd rb26dett swap for 240's but their prices are ridiculous. Off the 280z idea, rb's fit real nice in those too... :Banane56:

All three of these would be awesome IMO, I had a S-10 with a 350 in it but it wasnt all that fast, My stock talon at that time could beat it.. The 383 would be awesome with a little boost or spray, but traction would defiantly be an issue.:seeya:.
Traction would be an issue on the stock suspension. But those things are so easy to put a 4link in, and with slicks you wouldn't have much of a problem.

I've contemplated trying to mod an older Viggen 93. I really like how they look. There aren't nearly the amount of high HP ones running around like there are DSM's. It'd be an interesting change, and kinda fun to try things less common, roads less traveled.

I just don't know if I could go back to FWD though :(

Some people are slapping some bigger turbos on though. ANd as you can see, lots of room for improvement. Maybe if there was a way to swap in AWD.... :)

I seen one of those pull out on radisson and I was like, that thing would be sweet to do.

I love my Q45a 4.5 dohc 310/330? stock in a heavy but no sway car. I also love the full active supenstion in it. Rear drive lsd 4 wheel disk some earlier ones had 4ws.

Find an AWD Volvo S60, turbo from the factory, and luxurious to boot. Fairly easy to mod and relatively cheap for the quality.

I've driven just about every kind of car and keep thinking about this myself. Mustang interiors are just junk no matter what year it is including the new Shelby/Roush/Saleens. Corvettes can be fun but they too have that same crappy cheapass feel that the Mustangs have, just with better ergonomics. Besides that, without some serious mods, Vettes and Stangs are horribly slow. Vipers are a lot of fun, but are almost impossible to get comfortable in and sound like crap.

For me personally, I want pretty much what I learned to drive in, a 1973 Corvette. We had a 1974 when I was younger, but the 1973 looks way better. Of course I'd mod it up suspension and drivetrain-wise while keeping it completely stock looking. Green with black interior, big block and a four-speed. It wouldn't be terribly fast, but a nice classic to cruise around in. I also want to do up my high school car, a late 70's Chevy Monza Spyder. This I would do up pro-touring style with a 5-lug conversion, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a nice warmed up LSx with FI and probably a couple of turbos. Projects, projects.

I have a '01 M Roadster (315 hp from the M3 in a Z3 chassis) and it is a lot of fun, but nothing like the Talon. The car is super smooth and has long gears, but you don't get the rush of the talon. I have been through what you are going through many times and I just can't see getting rid of AWD. I have ridden in high HP RWD cars and they just go up in smoke, or they put a 4 link in the back and they handle like shit. Keep the talon and put a 50 trim in it, if you need a rebuild in the future go to a 2.4 so you can spool a bigger turbo quicker. An EVO is the only replacement I can see for my talon. I have been looking at building a '67 Chevelle with a tube chassis and 4wd system out of a chevy truck with a TT LS2 up front :D That would be WAY down the road though, unless I hit the lottery!

^I have been thinking about the same thing as you, but not as far.

V8 AWD Turbo would do it for me in something kinda pretty.

We have a customer with a Merkur converted to AWD with a 351ci V8 single turbo. The car is clean, but not the prettiest body style nowdays.

DSM/EVO is tough to beat HP/$ wise. Otherwise I like Shanes TT SC400 thought. You can make those motors pretty damn strong for relatively cheap(if you even need/want to build it). Otherwise I still have that RX7/LSX option for 12k relatively local for sale. Personally if doing something different, I'd probably do the SC400.
