You might want to check into seeing if the tranny computer is ok. This is a common problem with them. It will go into limp mode and only give you one forward gear. Mainly either 2nd or 3rd. The main symptom is revving alot to get going and then not shifting at all.
Or if it's slipping when going into overdrive it could be the clutch packs for the overdrive.
Either way, it might not be a whole tranny that you need. The computer can be sent to Kearney Auto (I think that's the name) in Austin, MN and they'll rebuild it for you for about $175 or so. This is a separate computer from the engine computer.
Might be a few things to look into before swapping out a whole nother tranny.

Is the tranny full of oil, this can cause problems also. I would try to figure out the exact problem and go from there. Throwing money and parts at a car until it works is not the best route to take.

I know for a fact that its no form of limp mode, or anything to do with the tranny computer because i have a stand alone shiftbox the bypasses the tranny computer completley.
what it is doing right now is that when it comes to a stop it lurches and jumps then dead stop, getting going takes forever in first, and at times when powering through the gears it will slip. my plans are to get a tranny and TC i know will work then i will rebuilt the one thats broken with an ipt rebuildYou might want to check into seeing if the tranny computer is ok. Taking forever to get going in first gear sounds like it's either a stuck valve in the valve body, or it isn't starting in first (usually second or third).
It's up to you what you want to do, but like John siad, I would try to find the problem first before just throwing parts at it.

again, i have a shift box that fully controls the gear the tranny is in. there is something totally messed up with the tranny wether it be a valve, clutch pack, torque converter, or whatever i have no clue what it is individually and have made many threads and posts about this issue, even talked to the IPT guys and no answers

If it hasn't been replaced in the life of the car it wouldn't hurt to install a newer transmission anyway especially with the amount of power you are putting down. Is the tranny fluid dark?

tranny fluid and filter is maybe 1000 miles old, tranny has 115k on it, IPT endlclutches 15k on them
Hey Gnarkill on here is looking to sell his tranny I think it only has like 80,000 on it.
