Hey guys i just got done rebuilding my head with brand new valves, comp 101200 cams, and hks cam gears. Everytime im line this thing up i just cant trust what it looks like and i keep thinkin im a tooth or so off what do you guys think? The way i have it now the side notches of the cam gears line up but the tops one look a lil off to me. Any help is appreciated. The tape is just on there until I get the timing right.

Dont go by the upper marks. Just make sure the dowel pins are pointed up like they are.

If you can run a straight edge across the center marks between the gears you should be ok. Just make sure everything below is lined up as well. Turn it over by hand a good 6 times until everything lines back up again, oil pump included, just to make sure everything is good.

Setting the cam gears to 0 on both, might help to make sure they are lined up right. You could set them back to their current setting, if thats what it was tuned for after you get the timing belt all lined up. Then run a straight edge across the bolts and center marks and make sure the line goes through the center of the bolts, not the very top or bottom. The marks on the top of the cam gears are for an Evo, so ignore them.
