---WILL HAVE A VIDEO UPLOADED SOON---

Alright, issue started when we went on the fall cruise. While driving I was noticing that the oil pressure was reading a bit lower than usually, but still within the "safe" parameters (10psi OP = 1000rpms). Figured the gauge was crapping out as it was an Autometer Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite. Car ran fine even with the issue.

Finally got a new ProSport Oil Pressure gauge and hooked it up and it still is reading low :/

Cold start it reads around 20 psi at idle (around the same as the Autometer read) instead of the usual 60-70 I was seeing before. After it warms up, the car barely reads oil pressure anymore on the gauge and by revving it, I can max out the gauge (100psi). Seems to idle and everything fine still.

Background:
-Oil Level is fine according to dipstick
-Oil relief has been ported on the oil filter housing (did this many months ago and never had any problems, max oil pressure I saw when doing a WOT pull was 80psi or so)

My old Autometer gauge never maxed out over 100 when revving up the engine, but this new ProSport does.

Anybody have any ideas? I am so fed up with the car and it's problems, I am about to sell it.

Are these mechanical or electric oil pressure gauges?

Electrical, ProSport one is brand new from MAP.

I don't like these new ones, early reviews showed there were chauncey.

But lately i have seen a lot of good reviews.
Check your connections, If it they are good it will mess up your readings.

I hate my prosport gauge. The sender crapped out after only 2 months of use. It also pegged out at anything above 4000 rpm. Also, it did the same thing as your's at idle where it would just drop to 0

You could try taking off an oil line (not to anywhere important) at idle and make sure at least something's coming out.
(make sure there's a bucket under and you don't have it off for longer than a second)

But chances are your oil pressure is fine. My Stewart Warner use to act funny and didn't run smoothly, it always jumped. But my oil pressure was more than good as Shane and his dyno knows. :rollinglaugh:

Dont do that... Oil will spray everywhere. Why not just get a mechanical oil pressure tester gauge like this. Check oil pressure with it and if it is fine, replace the electronic gauge inside the car.

Autozone might even have one to rent, someone on here might have one as well. I do but I'm 2hrs away or I'd let ya borrow it. :)

Sounds to me like your oil pressure sensor sucks. Try a different one.
